Moldova, EU disburses another 19 million, invites companies to invest

4 Settembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – The European Commission has disbursed another 18.9 million euros to Moldova, adding to the 270 million euros of pre-financing already provided this year under the Reform and Growth Facility, the European financial support instrument for the country and its reform agenda. The European Commission announced this in a statement, reaffirming the EU’s “unwavering support” for the country’s reform path and launching an invitation to companies to invest in Moldova, “in view of the significant progress made by Moldova in its reform efforts”.

The EU executive approved the disbursement after assessing that Chisinau had met four reform indicators linked to the Facility’s semi-annual payment schedule. Key results include the development of open and competitive electricity and gas markets, as well as measures to ensure energy security, the statement said, stressing that the country “continues to make progress on EU accession reforms in areas such as justice, anti-corruption and the fight against organised crime”, progress that demonstrates its commitment “to shared EU values, including democracy and the rule of law, and ensures that EU funds are invested effectively for the benefit of Moldovan citizens”. The country is expected to receive up to 1.9 billion euros in grants and loans under the Facility for 2025-2027.

In parallel, the Commission has launched a call for expressions of interest, encouraging businesses from the EU, European Economic Area and Moldova to explore investment opportunities in the country. “As an EU candidate country, with the support of the Growth Plan, Moldova is improving its access to the single market, offering unique opportunities for businesses,” the statement said. The initiative – it explains – “aims to build a pipeline of transformative private investments in Moldova that could receive support from the European Commission and partner financial institutions, such as the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development”.
