UN, ‘over 21,000 children in Gaza disabled by the war’

3 Settembre 2025

(Adnkronos) – At least 21,000 children in the Gaza Strip have disabilities resulting from injuries sustained since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, which broke out on October 7, 2023. This was denounced by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

According to the report, in the last almost two years of conflict, about 40,500 children have suffered “new war-related injuries”, and more than half of them have suffered permanent consequences that have led to disability. The United Nations Committee expressed “deep concern about the dramatic humanitarian escalation” and called on the international community to take urgent measures to protect children and ensure medical assistance to victims.
