(Adnkronos) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the Institute of the General Academy of Chemical Materials of the North Korean Missile Administration, where he was briefed on the results of tests of a new type of solid-fuel engine using carbon fiber composite materials for new generation intercontinental missiles. The Kcna news agency reported this, explaining that Kim visited the institute and was updated on the test results before leaving by train for Beijing to attend the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japan in World War II.
“He learned of the test results of the institute which produced the high-thrust solid-fuel engine with carbon fiber composite material and verified the reliability of the engine’s operation and its accuracy through eight static firing tests in the last two years, according to the key technological development plan of defense science,” Kcna reports. Kim also spoke of “laying the groundwork for future specialized mass production,” the news agency added.
