(Adnkronos) – The plan for the occupation of Gaza City will lead to the occupation of the entire Palestinian enclave with the consequence that a ”military government” will be formed in Israel. This was stated by the IDF Chief of Staff, General Eyal Zamir, during the security cabinet meeting yesterday evening, according to the Ynet website. “You are going towards a military government – Zamir said -. Your plan is leading us there. Understand the implications”.
During a meeting that Ynet described as ”heated”, Zamir told ministers that “your decision to conquer Gaza City, and which will later lead to the conquest of the refugee camps in central Gaza, will lead us to a military government, because there will be no other body that can take responsibility for the population”.
Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fuchs replied stating that the decision had already been made not to establish a military government in Gaza. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir then stated: “Instead of a military government, encourage voluntary emigration.” And Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich cut short: “We have made a decision”.
