(Adnkronos) – The Israeli forces (IDF) communicate that they have recovered the lifeless body of a hostage and the remains of another deceased person in the Gaza Strip. In “a military operation” “the body of Ilan Weiss, who was held prisoner for 693 days in Gaza, was recovered”, reads a post on X by the IDF, which confirms that they have also “recovered remains” that are linked to another deceased hostage, whose name has not been released.
Ilan Weiss was from Kibbutz Be’eri and, according to the Israeli military, left his home on the morning of 7 October 2023 to join the kibbutz’s emergency response team. ‘He was killed and kidnapped by Hamas during the massacre on 7 October,’ the post reads. His wife, Shiri, 54, and daughter, 19, were held hostage in Gaza and then released during the truce in November 2023.
