(Adnkronos) – The United States has approved the transfer to Ukraine of Eram missiles, air-launched precision missiles with a range of up to 450 kilometers, just as the Pentagon has introduced restrictions on the use of Atacms (300 kilometers range) against targets in Russia.
It is not clear whether these restrictions will also apply to Extended Range Attack Munitions. According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, the use of an Eram will also have to be approved by the Department of Defense.
After the green light for the sale of 3,350 Eram missiles to Kiev, which arrived after some delay following Donald Trump’s summit with Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders at the White House, for a value of 850 million dollars largely covered by Europeans, in recent days, the missiles should arrive in Ukraine within about six weeks. The cost of this new system is relatively low.
Eram missiles will offer Ukraine a significant new capability to strike targets beyond the range of several weapons already in its arsenals, including precision bombs, and will put numerous Russian targets far from the front line at risk (logistics hubs, command and control centers, military-industrial capabilities and air bases for example), reducing Russian advantages in terms of men, weapons and resources.
