(Adnkronos) – On August 31, Lebanon will present a plan to convince Hezbollah to disarm. This was announced by the United States special envoy for Syria and Lebanon, Thomas Barrack. Israel will present a counter-proposal when it receives Lebanon’s plan, Barrack added, speaking after meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut. “What Israel is saying is that it does not want to occupy Lebanon and that it would be happy to withdraw as soon as we see what the plans are to dismantle Hezbollah.”
“Israel is ready to act step by step,” said Deputy Special Envoy Morgan Ortagus. “These are small steps with the Lebanese government. For every step the Lebanese government takes, we will encourage the Israeli government to do the same.”
