(Adnkronos) – Naim Qassem, leader of Hezbollah, has urged the Lebanese government to revoke the decision to disarm the group, stating that it is “a serious mistake” made on the basis of Israeli diktats. “If this government continues in this form, it cannot be the trustee of Lebanon’s sovereignty unless it withdraws its decision,” Qassem said, reiterating that Hezbollah “will not give up its weapons,” as reported by Al Jazeera.
“The resistance will continue to represent a strong barrier that will prevent Israel from achieving its goals, and Israel will not be able to remain in Lebanon or achieve its expansionist project through Lebanon,” said the head of Hezbollah, adding that he will treat the decision “as if it did not exist.” Last month, the Lebanese Council of Ministers, embracing a US initiative, approved a resolution instructing the army to draw up a plan to disarm Hezbollah’s military organization by the end of the year.
