The death toll from the accident caused by the breaking of a cable while workers were working on a railway bridge over the Yellow River, designed with a steel arch structure, is at least six. This was reported by the official media of the Asian giant, after an initial toll that spoke of seven dead.
According to news confirmed by the Chinese authorities, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. local time on the Qinghai section of the railway linking Sichuan province to Qinghai province, in the northwest of the Asian giant, and ten people are still missing. Rescue efforts are continuing, official media report. The causes of the accident are unclear.
