(Adnkronos) – “Our state’s security situation is getting more serious every day, and this requires from us a rapid, epochal change in existing military theory and practice, a radical expansion of nuclear armament.” With these words, reported by the official Kcna agency, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for a strengthening of the atomic arsenal during a visit to the destroyer Choe Hyon.
Kim denounced the joint exercises between the United States and South Korea, which began yesterday, calling them “a hostile and conflictual expression towards the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” and “a clear demonstration of the intent to unleash a war and the main cause of the violation of peace and security in the region”. According to the Pyongyang leader, such maneuvers “have always had a provocative and threatening nature, but recently their gravity continues to increase due to the attempted military plot that includes a nuclear component”. The situation, he concluded, requires Pyongyang to respond with a “proactive and radical change”.
