14 Agosto 2025

(Adnkronos) – At least 34 people have died and another 35 have been injured as a result of violent landslides caused by torrential rains that hit a Himalayan village in Kashmir, India. This is the second major disaster caused by violent flooding in India since the beginning of August, a local official said. “We have recovered 34 bodies and rescued 35 injured,” said Kishtwar District Commissioner Pankaj Koumar Charma, adding: “It is possible that other bodies will be recovered.” Rescue teams are having difficulty reaching the most impervious areas 200 kilometers away from Srinagar, damaged by several days of violent storms.

“All necessary assistance will be provided to those in need,” said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On August 5, floods also hit the Himalayan town of Dharali, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The death toll from the disaster has risen to 70.
