If the FBI wants me, I’m here”: this is how the video message from Jimmy Cherizier, better known as ‘Barbecue’, begins in response to the $5 million bounty placed by the United States for his arrest. “I am ready to collaborate with them on one condition. Lies cannot be told,” continued ‘Barbecue’, a former police officer on the run, head of an alliance between Haitian gangs accused of multiple murders, kidnappings and attacks on infrastructure.
“Brazil Richardson ‘Aka Fredo’ is innocent. He never gave me money to finance business in Haiti,” said Charizier, referring to the alleged accomplice arrested last year by federal police. “Enough with all these lies and we could collaborate,” he concluded.
