USA-South Korea: Trump-Lee meeting at the White House on the 25th

(Adnkronos) – US President Donald Trump will host the new South Korean President Lee Jae Myung at the White House on August 25th. This was announced by the latter’s spokesman, according to whom “Lee will visit the United States from August 24th to 26th at the invitation of President Trump to participate in the Korea-United States meeting scheduled for the 25th.” At the center of the talks are the final details on trade negotiations between Washington and Seoul, after the imposition of 15% duties on products imported from South Korea – compared to the 25% threatened – in exchange for the promise of investments in the United States for about 350 billion dollars. But the two presidents – at their first meeting after Lee’s inauguration in June – will also talk about how to develop the alliance between the two countries into a “comprehensive strategic partnership, semiconductor, battery and chip production and shipbuilding,” as well as the North Korean dossier.
