(Adnkronos) – In September, on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly, Australia will recognize “the State of Palestine”. “Today I confirm that at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, in September, Australia will recognize the State of Palestine – said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese – and will recognize the right of Palestinians to their own state based on the commitments that Australia has received from the Palestinian Authority”.
“We will work with the international community to make this right a reality,” he added, speaking of “coordinated efforts at the global level” in support of a two-state solution. “It is – he said – humanity’s best hope to break the cycle of violence in the Middle East and bring an end to the conflict, suffering and hunger in Gaza”.
