Saudi Arabia: Baldocci, Khorayef look to bolster bilateral cooperation, partnerships

(Adnkronos) – Ambassador Carlo Baldocci held talks with Saudi Arabia’s industry and mineral resources minister Bandar al-Khorayef on Thursday as Italy continues to strengthen its ties with the Gulf powerhouse.

“Amb. Baldocci met w/ Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Al-Khorayef @mimgov for an exchange of views ahead of upcoming Italy-Saudi Arabia events,” the embassy wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Strong prospects for bilateral cooperation in #industry & high value sectors to boost Italy-Saudi Arabia partnerships,” the tweet added.

In January, Italy’s premier Giorgia Meloni made a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia, where she and the country’s de facto ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman inked an accord elevating bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.

During Meloni’s visit, Italy and Saudi Arabia signed deals worth some 10 billion dollars in raft of sectors from real estate to energy, culture, aerospace and defence, logistics, shipbuilding and water.

Meloni cited infrastructure, energy, defence, sport, entertainment and tourism as areas where bilateral cooperation could become “stronger, more effective and deeper”.
