Iran, extreme heat, offices closed in Tehran and other provinces

5 Agosto 2025

(Adnkronos) – Government offices, and not only, closed due to extreme heat. It happens in Iran where, in Tehran and other provinces, the authorities have ordered the closure due to the heat wave affecting the Islamic Republic and the increase in electricity consumption in a country that is dealing with rising temperatures and facing an unprecedented water crisis.

The governor of Tehran province, Alireza Fakhari, announced the closure of all government offices, schools and universities for tomorrow, also to optimize electricity consumption, reports the Iran International website. And he reported a decision taken at the request of the Ministry of Energy.

Similar measures also affect other provinces of the country. Today offices remain closed in those of Ardabil and Golestan, while in others – including those of Semnan and Qom – they will work with reduced hours. The same will happen both today and tomorrow in the province of Hamedan. Wednesday offices closed in seven provinces, including those of Kerman and Isfahan.
