(Adnkronos) – Over 1.9 million people have been placed on evacuation alert in Japan due to the tsunami following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that was recorded about 136 kilometers southeast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, in the Bering Sea.
According to Japan’s National Fire and Disaster Management Agency, the evacuation warnings cover 207 cities and towns in 21 prefectures. So far, no deaths or serious damage have been reported.
