Mo: EU-Israel agreement, 160 aid trucks to Gaza per day

29 Luglio 2025

(Adnkronos) – The European Union has confirmed that the agreement reached with Israel provides for access to the Gaza Strip of 160 humanitarian trucks per day, in addition to the distribution of 200,000 liters of fuel per day. The agreement, which European authorities are negotiating to verify on the ground once Tel Aviv has slightly improved the humanitarian situation, remains unimplemented by Israel.

EU sources have reported non-compliance with some aspects of the agreement reached with the Union, which provides for the Israeli authorities to allow the entry into the Strip of at least 160 humanitarian trucks per day, the opening of further entry points to Gaza and the entry of United Nations agencies into the territory to monitor humanitarian distributions. Brussels acknowledges that the figure agreed with Israel is not sufficient, but it was agreed as a compromise between the total blockade of the Strip and the over 600 trucks that entered before the Hamas attacks of 7 October 2023. “We had to start somewhere,” the sources indicate.

In this regard, the EU is negotiating a mission to verify the situation on the ground, after Israel denied permission to European Commission officials to enter Gaza, citing security concerns. “The situation remains quite serious and the number of people in difficulty is very high. Therefore, I believe that humanitarian partners, and we will only collaborate with partners we know and trust, such as the World Food Programme, UNICEF and the Red Cross, are ready to provide aid,” the sources continue.
