(Adnkronos) – Israel and Syria have resumed talks on security issues, according to the Saudi channel Al-Hadath, after the recent sectarian clashes and Israeli raids in Damascus and the southern province of Suwayda. The negotiations, mediated by Turkey and the United States, could lead to a meeting in Baku, Azerbaijan, where an Israeli delegation is expected to finalize agreements with the Syrian counterpart.
Despite the restart of negotiations, Israel does not commit to halting its military operations in Syria and is calling for the establishment of a demilitarized zone along the border and a permanent presence in the buffer zone.
