(Adnkronos) – The United States Department of Homeland Security has resumed deportation flights to third countries by sending five detainees, all from different countries, to the small nation of Eswatini in southern Africa. This was announced in a post on X by a spokesperson for the state agency, Tricia McLaughlin, who emphasized that the flight “carried individuals so barbaric that their countries of origin refused to take them back.”
The five are originally from Vietnam, Laos, Jamaica, Cuba, and Yemen, and have criminal records ranging from murder to sexual assault against minors. It is unclear whether they are currently in the custody of law enforcement in Eswatini, writes NBC. McLaughlin told the broadcaster that decisions in this regard depend on the government of the African country.
