(Adnkronos) – Italy and the United States have a “super-positive” relationship and the US is “our best friend in the world,” foreign minister Antonio Tajani said in an interview with Fox Business at the start of a visit to Washington on Tuesday.
“Relations are super-positive,” Tajani told Fox Business.
“I think America is our best friend in the world. For Italy, it’s important to strengthen the bridges between Rome and Washington,” Tajani stated.
“This is why we are working hard with US secretary of state Marco Rubio and premier Giorgia Meloni with US president Donald Trump and his administration,” Tajani continued.
Tajani said he was “optimistic” that more could be done to “defend our values, the free market, freedom and our common values”.
“This is very, very, important,” Tajani underlined.
