Russian intelligence, ‘NATO is preparing Moldova for conflict with Moscow’

14 Luglio 2025

(Adnkronos) – NATO is reportedly transforming Moldova into an “advanced outpost” on the eastern front in preparation for a possible armed conflict with Russia. This is what the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), the Kremlin’s external intelligence, claims in a note released and reported by Interfax.

The SVR claims that “the main blow, in the event of a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia, will have to be absorbed by the Moldovans themselves”, therefore “the alliance imposes on Chisinau the transition to its own military doctrines”. Russian intelligence also denounces a massive presence of military instructors and training centers in Moldova, and links the process to the possible victory in the parliamentary elections of September 28 of the pro-European party “Action and Solidarity”. In case of success, President Maia Sandu – according to the statement – would have promised to repeal the neutrality enshrined in the Moldovan Constitution.
