Croatia: Tajani attends event focused on European security, stability

11 Luglio 2025

(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani is taking part an event in Croatia at the weekend centred on dialogue and international cooperation as a means of ensuring European security and stability and resolving conflicts, starting with the Russia-Ukraine war, a foreign ministry statement said on Friday.

The ‘Facing Change’ panel discussion at the high-level Dubrovnik International Forum, which opens on Friday, will seek to forge shared solutions to the war in Ukraine and other conflicts, according to the statement.

The event will also look at the European integration of the Western Balkans, the role of Africa in the new global geopolitical scenario, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in common defence policy, said the statement.

Tajani is also slated to hold talks with Croatia’s prime minister Andrej Plenkovic, and foreign minister Gordan Grlic Radman on the sidelines of the forum (which is set to welcome over 400 guests), the statement continued.

This year’s forum entitled ‘Channelling the Change’ focuses on growing global instability, particularly in light of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and the continuing impact of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.

Tajani’s visit “also offers an opportunity to confirm the excellent state of bilateral relations between the two countries, founded on a solid economic and trade partnership and comprehensive synergy at key international forums,” the statement said.

Italy is Croatia’s leading supplier and second largest customer, with an export market share of 14.3%, higher than that of its main competitors.

There are around 400 Italian-owned companies operating in Croatia, primarily in the industrial, textile, wood, financial, and insurance sectors, the statement noted.
