Tajani, Zelensky hold brief talks in Rome

(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani and Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky held brief talks ahead of the Ukraine Recovery Conference which got underway in Rome on Thursday. 

Tajani, Zelensky, Italy’s premier Giorgia Meloni, European Union Commission president Ursula von der Leyen, Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Poland’s prime minister Doland Tusk are slated to address the conference’s plenary session,which was set to open at 10.30 am. 

Tajani was due to open a Recovery Forum at 12.30pm and to hold a string of bilateral meetings throughout the day. 

Around 5,000 participants are attending the two-day conference aimed at supporting war-torn Ukraine’s reconstruction and accelerating its EU entry. Participants include 100 official delegations and senior representatives of over 30 international organisations as well as 2,000 companies, according to the foreign ministry, which is organising the event.
