Heat, 263 deaths in London during heat wave, deaths tripled

9 Luglio 2025

(Adnkronos) – 263 people are said to have lost their lives in London during the heat wave that hit Europe last week. Sky News reports this, citing an analysis which believes that two thirds of these deaths would not have occurred without the effects of climate change. Last week, in fact, temperatures reached 34.7 degrees Celsius in London, 3.95 degrees higher than expected. The alarm was therefore triggered, also for subsequent heat waves, because hospitals, school classrooms and homes did not prove ready to face similar temperatures.

Scientists at Imperial College London and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine have concluded that climate change has tripled the number of deaths.
