(Adnkronos) – The Acropolis of Athens will remain closed during the central hours of today due to the strong heat wave that is hitting Greece, with temperatures that could reach 42°C in some regions. The Greek Ministry of Culture announced this, explaining that the measure was taken to protect the health of visitors and staff at the archaeological site.
Tourists will not be able to access the Parthenon and other ancient masterpieces located on the Acropolis between 1 pm and 5 pm, the ministry specified. Greek authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the entire country prepares to face one of the first real heat waves of the summer.
