(Adnkronos) – The United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund has thanked Italy for its “valuable contributions” to CERF and the UN’s country-based pooled funds (CBFPs) managed by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

“Grazie mille Italy for your valuable contributions to @UNCERF & @CBPFs in Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Somalia and Syria!” CERF wrote Friday on X (formerly Twitter).

“Longstanding support like yours helps us deliver health care, education and shelter for people in crises around the world,” the tweet added.

CERF supports rapid humanitarian responses for people hit by natural diasters and armed conflict. In 2024, CERF allocated 575 million dollars for live-saving assistance to 35 million people in 45 countries, according its 2024 annual report.

Italy donated 10.8 million dollars to CERF last year, according to the report.
