(Adnkronos) – ”The new target of 5% of GDP” allocated to defense spending ”is a courageous and necessary step to protect our freedom and our values. And to guarantee greater security for our citizens”. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani during the hearing at the Senate with the Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto on the outcomes of the NATO summit held in The Hague on 24 and 25 June.
”To those who make propaganda by waving alleged militaristic or ‘warmongering’ turning points, I want to remind them that investing in security is a much broader concept than buying bombs or tanks”, added Tajani, emphasizing that ”no euro is being taken away from healthcare or education”.
