Energy policy is also social policy says Tajani

(Adnkronos) – Energy policy and competitive industry that boosts economic growth and jobs can help prevent poverty including the impoverishment of Italy’s middle class, foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Tuesday.

“We have already increased employment, but now we want to protect the middle class by preventing it from becoming poor,” Tajani told his conservative Forza Italia party’s Energy States General.

“And all this can only be done with a competitive industrial sector and also through energy policy,” Tajani stated.

“Energy choices are social policy choices,” Tajani underlined.

Premier Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing government has chosen to “focus on growth, employment and high wages, not by setting a legal minimum wage but by establishing higher wages through bargaining and growth,” he said.
