1 Luglio 2025

(Adnkronos) – The French-Algerian writer Boualem Sansal was sentenced to five years in prison on appeal by a court in Algiers on charges of having “undermined the national unity” of Algeria, “insulted a constituted body”, carried out “actions that can damage the national economy” and for “possession of videos and publications that threaten the security and stability of the country”.

Sansal, 80, was sentenced on March 27 to five years in prison at first instance for statements made in October 2024 to the French far-right daily Frontières, in which he claimed that Algeria had inherited territories that previously belonged to Morocco, as the broadcaster Bfmtv recalls.
