Israel, request for suspension of Netanyahu’s trial rejected

27 Giugno 2025

(Adnkronos) – The Jerusalem court before which Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial is underway has rejected the request to suspend the proceedings, deeming the reasons given for the postponement request insufficient, including the war in Gaza and the recently concluded conflict with Iran. Judge Rivka Friedman-Feldman accepted the prosecution’s request to maintain the scheduled dates, considering that “the prime minister did not provide a detailed explanation or any reason that could justify the cancellation of his presence”, according to the statement reported by N12.

Netanyahu is on trial in three corruption cases, charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust. In one case, Netanyahu and his wife Sara are accused of accepting luxury items such as cigars, jewelry and champagne worth around 250,000 euros from billionaires in exchange for political favors. In two other cases, Netanyahu is accused of trying to negotiate more favorable coverage on two Israeli media outlets.
