(Adnkronos) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered to cut off all aid destined for the northern Gaza Strip, after the far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich threatened to leave the government.
Smotrich threatened to resign from the coalition after a video showing armed men taking control of humanitarian aid trucks circulated on social media. According to Smotrich, the aid continues to end up in the hands of Hamas.
Following Smotrich’s threats, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that they had instructed the IDF to draw up an action plan within 48 hours to prevent Hamas from seizing the aid. The two claimed to have received information confirming that “Hamas is once again taking control of the aid entering the northern Gaza Strip and stealing it from civilians”.
