(Adnkronos) – Iran intends to continue to focus on nuclear energy. Iran’s right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes remains intact. This was stated to al Jazeera by the spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baghaei after the US and Israeli attacks on its facilities. According to Baghei, Iran has every right, under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, to enjoy the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
“The main concern of the international community must be to condemn these illegal acts by the United States,” said the spokesman, calling the attacks a “damaging blow” to international law, diplomacy and ethics. And regarding the extent of the damage inflicted on its nuclear sites and the state of enriched uranium stocks, he added that these should be “secondary issues” for the international community.
“I think it’s a really bad sign that so many people around the world are trying to downplay the depth and severity of the American act of aggression against Iran and are now talking about the level of the attacks or their effectiveness,” he said.
