24 Giugno 2025

(Adnkronos) – Foreign minister Antonio Tajani has praised politician and academic Varsen Aghabekian’s nomination as his new Palestinian Authority counterpart, underlining Italy’s wish to strengthen bilateral ties, help Palestinians and get a two-state solution to the long-running conflict with Israel.

“Congratulations to Varsen Aghabekian on her appointment as Palestinian Authority foreign minister,” Tajani wrote on X.

“A friend of Italy and a supporter of our #FoodForGaza program, ” Tajani continued.

Tajani referred to a scheme the government launched last year with the UN World Food Programme and Food and Agriculture Organisation, Red Cross and Red Crescent and Italy’s civil protection agency.

“We are ready to work together to strengthen our relations, assist the Palestinian civilian population, and achieve a political solution based on the prospect of two states,” Tajani concluded.
