Iran, London, Paris and Berlin call for negotiations ‘soon and without preconditions’

17 Giugno 2025

(Adnkronos) – The United Kingdom, France and Germany have called on Iran to return to the negotiating table “soon” and “without preconditions”. A French diplomatic source told AFP, explaining that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met last night with the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Kaja Kallas.

At the end of the meeting, the ministers also asked Iran to “avoid any hasty rush against Western interests, any regional expansion and any nuclear escalation”. In other words, they asked Iran to continue cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), not to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and not to exceed uranium enrichment thresholds, the source explained.

Paris, Berlin and London, which form the E3 group, last year started negotiations with Tehran in an attempt to find a new nuclear agreement.
