(Adnkronos) – Pakistan closes border crossings with Iran. The authorities of the province of Balochistan, writes The Express Tribune, have closed all transits in the districts of Gwadar and Panjgur, with a decision that concerns both those crossing the border on foot and the passage of vehicles carrying fuel. The authorities speak of precautionary measures while the escalation seems to continue after the Israeli attack on military and uranium enrichment sites in Iran and Tehran’s response.
Pakistan and Iran share a border of over 900 kilometers. The Dawn newspaper also reported provisions for the closure of the Panjgur, Gabd and Kalatuk crossings as early as yesterday, specifying, however, that the Taftan transit remained operational. “Activities at border facilities in all five districts, Chaghi, Washuk, Panjgur, Kech and Gwadar, have been suspended,” Balochistan official Qadir Bakhsh Pirkani told Afp.
In the past few hours, according to local media, 450 Pakistani pilgrims have left Iran, but the restrictions come as Balochistan residents – writes The Express Tribune – are already dealing with fuel shortages.
