(Adnkronos) – At least 38 Palestinians have been killed in the southern Gaza Strip during new episodes of violence near food distribution centers supported by Israel and the United States. The Hamas-controlled Gaza Ministry of Health reported this, specifying that this is the most serious death toll among those recorded in recent days during the daily influx of civilians to the distribution points managed by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (Ghf), the private body in charge of delivering aid.
Israeli soldiers reportedly opened fire around 4 a.m. in an attempt to disperse the crowd near the Al-Alam roundabout in Rafah, which has been the scene of similar incidents in the past. This is according to Haaretz, which reports that most of the victims were near the Ghf center in Rafah, while others were heading towards a new hub on the outskirts of Khan Yunis. The Israeli army has not yet commented on the incident, but in previous cases it has spoken of “warning shots” against suspects approaching their positions.
