13 Giugno 2025

(Adnkronos) – “It is of fundamental importance to achieve wage increases that exceed the inflation rate. We must prevent Japan’s financial situation from worsening further and ensure that future generations are not burdened by it.” Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba stated this, speaking with AFP journalists. The premier, in view of the crucial July elections, has promised cash subsidies of “20,000 yen for every Japanese citizen”, about 120 Euros, and a further 20,000 yen for children and the poorest families.

Recent data show that Japanese inflation reached its peak in April, with the price of rice almost doubling. According to the Interior Minister, core inflation, excluding fresh food, reached 3.5% in April, the highest value since January 2023 and well above the 3.2% in March.
