Israel will demolish 100 houses in Jenin, 280 families involved

11 Giugno 2025

(Adnkronos) – Israel intends to demolish about 100 buildings in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank. This is stated in a demolition order issued against those living in the camp and which provides that residents can appeal within 72 hours. According to Ocha, the United Nations human rights organization, about 280 families will be affected by the transfer.

The Israeli army has been operating in the Jenin camp since January, when the government extended its war aims to the West Bank. As a result, military operations have intensified in West Bank refugee camps, air strikes have increased, new checkpoints have appeared on numerous roads and at least 30,000 people have been ordered to leave refugee camps.

According to Akram Rajoub, head of the Jenin refugee camp popular committee, 800 of the camp’s 1,050 buildings have been partially or totally destroyed. This figure does not include the planned demolitions, Haaretz specifies.
