Ukraine: Kyiv wants to see Moscow’s conditions before Istanbul talks

30 Maggio 2025

(Adnkronos) – Kyiv wants to see the conditions set by Moscow and the Russian proposals for a ceasefire before going to Istanbul on June 2 for a new round of negotiations. This was stated by the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha during a joint press conference in Kyiv with the head of Turkish diplomacy Hakan Fidan. “In order for the next scheduled meeting to be substantial and meaningful, it is important to receive a document in advance so that the delegation participating has the authority to discuss the relevant positions,” Sybiha said.

To date, he explained, Kyiv has not received the memorandum it is waiting for with the Russian proposals. “We want to end this war within this year and we are interested in establishing a truce, whether it is 30, 50 or 100 days,” Sybiha said. “Ukraine is available to discuss it directly with Russia. We confirmed this during the last meeting of our delegations with the Russian side,” he added. In his speech, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister did not confirm the presence of a Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul on Monday.
