(Adnkronos) – Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani issued a sharp rebuke to Puglia regional governor Michele Emiliano on Friday after he wrote a letter urging all staff to sever ties with Israel amid its devastating war in Gaza.
“Foreign policy is made by the government, not by the regions,” Tajani told Rai News 24.
“Willingness to welcome children in particular is another thing,” Tajani went on, thanking the governors of several regions whose hospitals are treating sick and injured children from Gaza.
“But foreign policy decisions are not made by regional presidents, it is not their responsibility,” Tajani underlined.
