Indonesia opens to relations with Israel, but ‘only if it recognizes Palestine’

28 Maggio 2025

(Adnkronos) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has stated that his country would be willing to establish diplomatic relations with Israel, provided that the latter recognizes the State of Palestine. He said this during a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, on an official visit to Jakarta.

“The two-state solution and the freedom of Palestine are the only way to genuine peace,” Prabowo said, adding that “Israel has the right to be recognized and to have its security guaranteed. Indonesia is ready to recognize Israel once it has recognized Palestine.”
