The South Korean news agency Yonhap reports the decision by the South Korean authorities while, ahead of the presidential elections on June 3, news continues to emerge about the case involving former President Yoon Suk Yeol, who last December tried to impose martial law in the country and was removed from office.

“Police announced today that former Prime Minister Han and former Finance Minister Choi have been banned from leaving the country as they are under investigation, suspected in an insurrection inquiry,” Yonhap reported, specifying that the ban has been in effect since mid-month.

In December, after the Seoul Parliament voted to impeach Yoon, Han took over as interim president, then passed the role to Choi following Han’s impeachment, and finally returned to Han when the latter was reinstated as interim president.
