(Adnkronos) – During its upcoming stint on the United Nations Human Rights Council, Italy will combatting violence against women and girls and work to enact Agenda2030 to fight inequality, tackle climate change and build peaceful inclusive societies that respect human rights.
“At the #Council of Human Rights, Italy will continue to work to prevent and combat violence against #women and #girls, and to promote the implementation of #Agenda2030,” Italy’s embassy in Egypt wrote Friday on X.
Italy will serve on the 47-member UN Human Rights Council from 2026-2028, the foreign ministry announced earlier this month.
Italy’s human rights priorities also include ending capital punishment worldwide; campaigning against female genital mutilation and early and forced marriages; protecting religious minorities and the right to freedom of religion and belief, the foreign ministry said.
