US: Tajani deplores killings of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington DC

22 Maggio 2025

(Adnkronos) – Italy has condemned the “tragic” killings of two Israeli embassy staff members in Washington DC late by a gunman outside the Capital Jewish Museum late Wednesday, deploring “terror”, “violence” and “Anti-Semitism”.

“I stand with the State of Israel for the tragic murder of two young employees of the Israeli embassy in #Washington,” foreign minister Antonio Tajani wrote Thursday on X.

“Scenes of terror and violence are to be strongly condemned. Anti-Semitism born of hatred against Jews must be stopped, the horrors of the past can never return,” Tajani continued.

Italy’s premier Giorgia Meloni re-tweeted Tajani’s post.

A 30-year-old suspect in the killings, Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, reportedly chanted pro-Palestine slogans after he was arrested at the scene and taken into custody. Rodriguez was previously unknown to police.

Rodriguez allegedly shot a group of people with a handgun, hitting the two victims, named as Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, locally employed embassy staff who were due to get engaged.
