(Adnkronos) – The European Union and the United States need a shared strategy on sanctions to pressure Russia’s president Vladimir Putin to end the 39-month-old war in Ukraine, Italy’s foreign minister Antonio Tajani said on Thursday.
“This is the way forward, because if we want to convince Putin to withdraw troops and have fewer available, we have to coordinate our actions,” Tajani said from Antalya, where he is attending an informal Nato ministerial meeting.
“The more difficult Russia’s economic situation becomes, the less it can pay its military,” Tajani continued.
“It takes time, but I think US-EU coordination on sanctions is crucial. “We must have the same goal,” he underlined.
