Greece, magnitude 6 earthquake off Crete

(Adnkronos) – A tsunami warning, as a precautionary measure, was issued in the past few hours by the Greek authorities after an earthquake of magnitude 6 on the Richter scale recorded during the night between the islands of Kasos and Crete. Residents of Rhodes, Karpathos and Kasos were asked to “immediately move away from the coast” and to “follow the instructions of local authorities”, Greek TV Ert reported. The earthquake was recorded “19 kilometers southwest of Kasos, at a depth of 62.5 kilometers”, according to the Geodynamic Institute of Athens. It was felt particularly in Crete and Rhodes, Ert reported. No damage is currently reported on the islands near the epicenter of the earthquake.
