(Adnkronos) – China and Colombia have signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of integrating the South American country into Chinese projects within the framework of the New Silk Road. “China and Colombia should consider the latter’s formal accession to the Belt and Road Initiative as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation,” said Chinese leader Xi Jinping during a meeting in Beijing with his counterpart Gustavo Petro, who arrived in the Chinese capital for the China-Celac (Community of Caribbean and Latin American States) summit.
After the meeting, Xi and Petro witnessed – reports Xinhua – the signing of a “cooperation plan between the two governments for the joint implementation of the ‘Silk Road Economic Belt’ and the ’21st Century Maritime Silk Road'”.
