(Adnkronos) – North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reportedly oversaw drills yesterday simulating nuclear counterattacks against Seoul and Washington. This was reported today by North Korean media following the missile tests reported yesterday by South Korean military authorities.
According to the North Korean news agency KCNA, the exercises involved a missile system and a tactical ballistic missile and allowed for ‘detailed training’ on “procedures and processes for a rapid transition to a nuclear counterattack position”.
“The objective of the exercise – added the official Pyongyang agency – was achieved and the reliability of the command and mobilization system, capable of responding quickly to any nuclear crisis, was verified”.
The South Korean military said yesterday’s tests, which involved “various types” of short-range ballistic missiles, could be linked to North Korea’s arms exports to Russia.
