International law, cooperation dialogue to de-escalate spiralling international tensions – Grandi

9 Maggio 2025

(Adnkronos) – United Nations leaders must underline the importance of upholding international law, of cooperation and dialogue to counter “dramatically” increasing international tensions that imperil the world, UN refugee chief Filippo Grandi stated on Friday.

“As international tensions grow dramatically, it is crucial that @UN leaders led by secretary-general Antonio Guterres reaffirm – as we did this week — the importance of international law, cooperation, dialogue,” Grandi wrote on X.

“Any other path will take us further towards a very dangerous world,” Grandi warned.

UN leaders, including Guterres, deputy UN secretary-general Amina J. Mohammed, Grandi and other UN agency chiefs gathered in Helsingor, Denmark on Wedneday, for the Chief Executives Board (CEB) session hosted by the world body’s UNOPS agency dedicated to implementing humanitarian and development projects.

The Helsingor meeting focused on strengthening multilateralism and accelerating global impact to address critical challenges, with a commitment to international law, cooperation, and dialogue amid rising international tensions.
